The cliché is true. We are not getting old, we are just getting better. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll see me whipping those reading glasses off on occasion and not everything works the exact same way it did when I was 25. But the fact of the matter is, I’m not sitting around thinking about my age on a daily basis and it certainly is not putting any limits on my life.
We suspect you might have a similar approach.
That is why there is no other publication like Swing. We don’t just address aging; we address living. We encourage a generation of dreamers to keep dreaming and never stop asking the question, “what next?” From opening a new business to running a marathon, we believe that the next half century of your life is the time to do it. And with every page of each issue, we focus on getting the body, mind and spirit ready for the challenge. To that end, it doesn’t matter who you are—your race, your religion, your preferences or your beliefs—if you are 45 plus, we’re talking to you.
Our purpose is to deliver the latest information on topics that affect the individual journey and the collective community of mature adults across the country.
Sherry Blackshear
Editor-in-Chief
Sherry’s vision for Swing was to create an avenue that would tell inspiring stories to motivate baby-boomers to live a full and healthy life regardless of age. “I was very clear in my mission that the magazine had to be a diverse representation of all people from all walks of life. Our world is not black or white; but is bursting with energy in living color. Swing needed to celebrate that energy and embrace a spirit to pursue our given gifts with passion, while having fun doing it.”
A native of Atlanta, Sherry is a former marketing manager for a major newspaper. Her expertise lies in the marketing and branding services for mature audiences.
On a personal note, Sherry is a nature buff who loves the beach, scuba diving, jogging, hiking and reading. She is a dare-devil at heart, who will try just about anything once.
